Friday 7 May 2010 Ford Racing UK's Kevin Shortis celebrates 21 years in motorsport. The BRSCC Cadwell Park meeting on 5th and 6th June will be a cause of celebration for Kevin Shortis who will mark this occasion for 21 years in race co-ordination. It was a chilly Cadwell Park in 1990, that saw the Ford Saloon Car Championship make its maiden appearance and a naive younger Kevin standing wondering what he had got himself into. Since then, many motorsport championships later, Kevin still feels passionate for motorsport and continues to administer existing championships whilst preparing the world for the new Fiesta Junior Championship in 2011. Those intervening years have seen Kevin take on many roles. With Ford's Boreham Motorsport facility where he played a leading role in setting up the Ford Rally Ka Championship and maintaining a rally bonus scheme, to working with the BRSCC, BRDC and BARC to help run the highly acclaimed Best of British Motorsport package, a blueprint for successful racing packages that are seen today. A long stint with the Ford RS Owners' Club from 1985 - 1992 as company secretary gave him close association with many areas in Ford. Kevin is more known for his total commitment to all things FORD and his unwavering support for the marque has been recognised both within and outside the Ford Motor Company. The Ford Saloon Car Championship, the Ford Fiesta Championship and the Ford XR Challenge are familiar names. To mark this special occasion and to celebrate the landmark, Kevin invites all competitors from any of his championships to a social gathering at Cadwell Park to be held on the Saturday evening (5th June) to start around 6.30 pm. He will provide liquid refreshment and music at the Ford Racing UK race centre. A special welcome will also be extended to all marshals and officials too. Commentating today Kevin said, ' It has been my good fortune and it has been an honour and privilige to have met so many fantastic people. Motorsport in the UK is very strong and well supported and I hope my small contribution has enabled it to continue to grow and be successful. My thanks go to all the competitors and sponsors who over 21 years have been so supportive and instrumental in helping us all achieve such success. I would also like to thank the British Racing & Sports Car Club and the MSA for their help over those 21 years. The drinks are on me at Cadwell Park'. |

25 April 2010 Scintillating Snetterton for Fabulous Fiestas. The Competition Car Insurance / Dunlop Ford Fiesta Championship certainly provided the action in this full weekend programme of racing organised by the British Racing & Sports Car Club's East Anglian Centre. With four races on Sunday, the Fiestas again showed why they have been so successful in attracting solid support from such a diverse range of competitors. The racing was quite stupendous and all classes gave special touch to this race event. 43 Fiestas in total ! On a scale of 1 to 10 for entertainment, we reckon a 14 would just do justice. All involved deserve a big pat on the back; so thank you to our special co-ordinator Alexandra and to all the drivers and teams who together made this record weekend so memorable. A full race report will feature soon on the relevant section - see http://www.fordracing.eu/documents/002RacerptSNwebver.doc

The Competition Car Insurance Ford Fiesta Championship enjoyed the only bright weatherin the country as the Lydden Hill Performance Ford 'Track Attack' saw the near three dozen Fiestas headline the whole weekend event. In fact it was the major track action as on Sunday we saw 4 action packed races as the combined classes A and B and then Class C both having two races at the Kent track. Two more Fiesta cars took delivery of their HD GoPro cameras as both John Findlay and Graham Field made the switch to the brand new 'must have' film system, with Ruari Fairbairns was the first.
Tim Bennett was the man in class A as he took back to back wins in both races. In class B the wins were shared by Harry Cockill and Scott Baines. Meanwhile, in class C the purposeful application of driving skills saw Mark Tilbury do the double. An enjoyable weekend where the racing was brilliant ! With rain and storms elsewhere in the country, Kent bore witness to being the 'Garden of England' and mostly endured sunny conditions. The next rounds will be at Snetterton on April 24th and 25th, but not before the opening round of the BRS Recovery Ford XR Challenge round at Silverstone on 11th April. 26 March 2010 Fiesta Junior The specification of the 2011 Fiesta Junior cars have now been unveiled. Based on the 2007/8 model year 1600 Zetec S. The car will look very similar to the current senior championship Fiesta ST with the exception of some special planned graphics which will identify the Fiesta Junior cars. Permission has been granted by the MSA for this championship to happen. Sponsorship talks have been opened and two major global companies have expressed a keen interest. Car v Van - beat white van man on the track In what was first suggested as a tongue in cheek project has now found itself thrust into the realms of reality. The Courier Cup is a maybe title for a series of races which will see light commercial vehicles in the mould of the Transit Connect/ Citroen Berlingo pitched up against small light saloons. The playing field will be level as engines and weight will all be kept to maximum/minimum to try and ensure near equal performance. A Group N set of rules with maximum safety and maximum fun is the gameplan. 13 March 2010 AJK-TV to film Castle Combe 60th Anniversary In a deal brokered by Ford Racing UK, it was announced today that the 31st July/1st August meeting at Castle Combe is to be filmed as a special one-off and will form a dedicated 2 hour feast to celebrate the famous tracks 60th birthday. The programme is to be aired at 2.00 pm on Sunday 29th August on MotorsTV. Not to be missed, This is in addition to the Fiesta Championship's own race programme. GoPro Camera - the first sale fitted at the track. Ruari Fairbairns earned the distinction of becoming the first championship driver to purchase the GoPro Hero HD camera from supplier Hi Kalibre Motorsport Supplies. The amazing camera was fitted and Ruari took to the track having mastered the two button action to get it going. Small and light and easy to operate and giving over 2.5 hours of full HD video this will become a standard which others will be measured by. This camera has been tested by the British Formula Ford Championship and is also going to be the in-car cameras of choice for AJK-TV, our own television producers. For details see www.hikalibre.ms .
